Glasgow Americana

Glasgow’s Annual Americana festival, which was first held in 2007, is back again this month, with 10 impressive gigs in 5 days, at venues across the city.
International visitors like Austin based singer songwriter Kimmie Rhodes, Nathan Bell from Chattanooga, and New Jersey’s Anthony D’Amato are all flying in to headline their own shows.
Nashville based Woody Pines is playing for a private wedding over here, before also squeezing in an appearance on the Sunday afternoon Hazy Recollections matinee show at The Admiral Bar.
Martha L Healy and Starry Skies will be having album launches during the festival, which also sees headline shows by Bristol based Yola Carter, and Australian born Emily Barker (she wrote and performed the theme to BBC TV’s Wallander), and local lads, The Hellfire Club.
There’s also a night of Byrds,Beatles and Beach Boys influence from Bennett Wilson Poole at The Glad Café on the Saturday night
Add to that supporting roles for The Red Pine Timber Company, Mabel & Huck, David Latto, Lynnie Carson & Yvonne Lyon, the festival is showcasing an amazing array of talent.
The Glasgow Americana Festival runs from October 3-7th. See the giglist page for individual dates, or check out www.glasgowamericana.com.
