Grand Ole Opry

Glasgow's Grand Ole Opry is celebrating its' 40th Anniversary this month.
To recall the memories of these 40 years, long time member Margaret Brown will join Stewart Fenwick on Celtic Music Radio this Sunday, November 2nd, between 12 Noon-2pm.

 

Country TV

BBC Alba are currently showing the 2nd series of Orry an Luir, recorded in Newry, Northern Ireland. The series , introduced by Daniel O'Donnel features live performances by top Irish acts. The next programme, airing Tuesday 9pm features Susan McCann, but you can catch the repeat of this week's programme with Robert Mizzell on satyrday night @9pm.
Meanwhile BBC will screen "Country at The BBC2 Saturday Nov 1st at 10.35pm, and a Country night of programmes starting at 9pm on Friday November 7th.

 

English Country double bill heading north

Two modern Country duo's from south of the border, The Shires and Ward Thomas are heading out around the UK & Ireland, including a gig at King Tuts in Glasgow on November 23rd.
Both bands have come a long way since playing the pop-up stages of C2C in March this year, each having an A-listed track on BBC Radio 2.
The seeds for this tour were sown when the two bands ran into each other in a road house in Nashville while both paying pilgrimage to their spiritual home. The chance to take their shared message out on the road together seemed too good to miss and the ‘Home-Grown Tour’ was born.

 

Jacqui Sharkey ew CD

Donegal based Jacqui Sharkey follows up her highly acclaimed "A New Dawn" CD with "Love And Other Things", which she worked on with Capercallie's Manus Lunny. Jacqui was born and grew up in Glasgow. She will guest on Celtic Music Radio's Celtic Country shortly.

 

A Life Thats Good for Lisa McHugh

Another Glasgow born, Donegal based lass is Lisa McHugh, who has worked hard over the last few years and is now one of Ireland's most popular singers,  Lisa is currently presenting "On The Road With Lisa" on Irish TV, Sky Channel 191 on Sunday nights at 9.30, repeated Fridays 9pm, and Saturday 11.30pm. The programme features Lisa meeting up with fellow Irish Country stars. 
Lisa also has a new CD out, "A Life That's Good".

George V fills in his father's shoes

The Patsy Cline tour, starring Ireland's sandy Kelly begins it's Scottish run on Tuesday 4th November in Falkirk, followed by dates in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Perth, Inverness, Kirkcaldy, and ends with two nights at Glasgow's Pavilion on Nov 14/15th.
The tour was to have featured George Hamilton IV, who sadly passed away in September. His son, George V is stepping into his father's shoes, by taking his place on the tour.

 

Texas Gun in Alloa

The Prairie Star C&W Club meet again this Saturday night in the usual Weirs Social Club in Alloa, with this month's guests Texas Gun.
