Raintown play Stirling festival

Raintown are Stirling bound, taking part in The Sruihlea Festival on Saturday August 18th. The festival, at the Forthside Sports Village, features Stirling Highland Games, and a Food Festival during the day, and a live concert at night, which also features Graeme Clark from Wet WetWet, Railfan and Altered Sky. All day tickets are £20, or £15 for the evening concert.

 

Southern Fried finalise line up

Perth's Southern Fried Festival have confirmed the line up's for their free daytime stages, In addition to headliners like Steve Earle, Iris Dement, Rodney Crowell, Gretchen Peters and Graham Nash, the artists appearing on the Outdoor & Acoustic Stages have been announced. They include The Wandering Hearts, The worry Dolls, Coaltown Daisies, Meaghan Blanchard, The Grahams, Martha L Healy and The Daddy Naggins.
The festival runs July 26-29th at various Perth venues.

Mary Duff returns to Stirling

Mary Duff, the longtime touring partner of Daniel O'Donnell is back on the road headling her own shows this month. Amongst the Scottish dates is a stop at Stirling's Albert Halls on Saturday 23rd June. Other dates include Greenock, Inverness, Arbroath & Langholm.
Supporting Mary on the tour will be the fabulous Jordan Mogey.

 

Woodside is Fife's new music venue

The Woodside Hotel in Aberdour is making it's mark on the music scene, with a number of "onl Scottish date" events for up & coming artists from the Country & Americana field.
Already Kim Richey has appeared at the venue, and in the next couple of weeks Jessica Lynn, Megan O'Neill and Curtis Grimes are all lined up.
New Yorker Jessica Lynn will be at the venue this Friday, June 15th. She has been hailed as "Shania's successor", whilst she toured last year opening for rockers ZZ Top.
Megan O'Neill follows with an appeareance on Saturday, 16th. The Irish born singer songwriter has made quite a mark on the UK Americana scene.
Then on Saturday June 23rd the atmosphere will be Undeniably Country (the title of his 6th & current album), with Texan Curtis Grimes. 

 

Hazel Cumming headlines Country & Ceilidh night

Cumbernauld based Hazel Cumming is an up & coming Country singer, who has already appeared at venues as far afield as The Thainstone Festival and the Northern Nashvile club in Caithness, as well as events in Ireland. Next Saturday (June 16th), she is hosting a Country & Ceilidh night at The Alona Hotel at Strathclyde Park, Motherwell, alongside The Ballochmyle Ceildh band.
Hazel already has one album available, "One Step At A Time", and is off to Ireland this summer to record her second release.

James 'n Wood top CMDS poll

James n' Wood have topped the poll run by Country Music & Dance In Scotland to find Scotland's most popular band. Steve James has been one of the most popular figures on the Scottish Country music scene for many years, but in January 2016 , teamed up with Martin Coulson to form James ' Wood, and quickly found a following.
The beat Texas Gun, Jolene & Barry and Carson City in the readers poll. 

 

Colorado Club celebrate 35 years

Congatulations to all concerned with The Colorado C&W Club in West Calder, who celebrated their 35th Anniversary this week, with long time regulars Jolene & Barry providing the entertainment.
The Colorado meet every Sunday night at the town's Bowling Club,
