Brian Hughes Homecoming gigs

Brian Hughes and The Lonesharks, as part of the Homecoming Scotland Celebrations, will be playing two shows locally, promoted by West Dumbartonshire Council
Friday 27 November Clydebank Town Hall, Dumbarton Road, Clydebank
Saturday 28 November Burgh Hall, Church Street, Dumbaton.
Both shows are are part of a full evening's entertainment with support from top ceilidh bands Raggle Taggle Gypsies and Celtic Spirit also on the bill.
All this for £5 at door.

International award for Swift

4 times CMA winner, Taylor Swift was surprised backstage during the dress rehearsals for "The 43rd Annual CMA Awards" when Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn presented her with the 2009 CMA International Artist Achievement Award.
This, despite the fact that she was presented as a non-Country artist when visoiting the UK, with Country radio programmes not being serviced with her product.

Banjo maestro Furtado will play Bathgate

With the recent cancellation of the Tony Furtado concert which had been
arranged in association with the SBA, a number of fellow bluegrass
enthusiasts have banded together to save the event, and therefore
the concert will now go ahead in The Glenmavis Tavern, Bathgate on the
night of 17 November.

CMA Awards on British radio & TV

The Country Music Awards are held in Nashville on Wednesday night , Nov 11th.
Film 24 will be broadcasting the 43rd CMA Awards on Wednesday Nov 18th at 8pm, whilst Radio 2 will be have a highlights program on Friday Nov 13th with performances and interviews and hosted by Dale Winton.

 

Stirling Bluegrass

There's a bluegrass double bill at Stirling Folk Club this Monday, November 9th, when New Redwing & Dapper McDanns will both be appearing. Stirling Folk Club meet every Monday night at the town's Rugby Club.

 

Blueflint

Touted by the Scotland on Sunday Review during 2008 as one of the top ten acts to watch, Blueflint are based around the banjo duo of Deborah Arnott and Clare-Louise Neilson, whose music subtly intertwines the clawhammer and three-finger picking styles of banjo along with beautifully stark but sweet vocal harmonies in original songs and ballads of love, loss and revenge. Blueflint’s unique sound is enhanced by the contribution from an excellent line-up of talented and versatile musicians including Roddy Neilson on fiddle and Hugh Kelly on double bass. Blueflint’ have released a new CD 'High Bright Morning,' and are playing the following dates:
