Dark Green Tree

Dark Green Tree are an Edinburgh based Americana trio, comprising Ross Cockburn, Jay Brown and Cera Impala, who have just released an impressive album, "Secret Lives". The album was produced by Boo Hewerdine.


 

Bill Alexander back at Prairie Star

Bill Alexander, a long time favourite, is back at Alloa's Prairie Star C&W Club next Saturday, June 6th for the club's monthly night at Weirs Club.

 

The Hellfire Club release CD

Glasgow based Americana band, "The Hellfire Club" have released a new album, "Songs For Fallen Stars". The band originally formed in the 1990's, gigged around the West Of Scotland Country scene for a while, decided to concentrate on their own original material, primarily in indie music venues. They've also hosten their own americana nights at Glasgow's Griffin Bar.
They are currently a seven piece band, featuring Bob Anderson, Rab Armour, Helen Brown, Willie Brown, Mark Ferrari, Kenny Irvine and Nick Ronan, and the album was recorded in Glasgow.

 

Bellamy's @ 40

Howard & David, The Bellamy Brothers are celebrating their 40th Anniversary this year, with the release, on June 15th, of a double CD, simply called "40 Years".
One CD features many of their huge hits, whilst the other CD is all new material.

 

Willie & Merle

In Country music, there's no two bigger legends than Willie Nelson & Merle Haggard, and they have teamed up for a new album released on Monday June 1st.
"Django and Jimmie", the title track of the album , is about Django Reinhardt and Jimmie Rodgers, who had huge influences on both of the legends careers.
The album features some new material, as well as duets on classics like "Somewhere Between", "Family Bible" and "Swinging Doors". There's also a tribute to another Country legend in "Missing Ol' Johnny Cash".

Nathan celebrates birthday in Stirling

Nathan Carter whose new album out is Ireland's top selling album for the past two weeks, has some Scottish dates this week, including Stirling's Albert Halls on Thursday May 28th - his 25th birthday !
Nathen spoke to Stewart Fenwick on his Celtic Music Radio programme on Sunday.
