Skirlie @ The Meeting Place
This month's Acoustic Nights @The Meeting Placein Stonelaw Church in Rutherglen proudly present 'Skirlie', this Friday, October 30th.
Skirlie is a Scottish dish with a mixture of Oats and Onions fried in Butter which is normally added to a main course. As they themselves say, 'This is how we approach our music. Fundamentally Scottish with other things thrown in: Scots Trad, Celtic, Transatlantic, Roots...' - Tasty in more ways than one! They do a mix of traditional and contemporary Scottish and Irish songs, plus a few American ones, and some lovely ones written by Joe Howley, their guitarist.Line-up:Rab Ferris: whistles, percussion and vocalsJoe Howley: guitar and vocalsKevin Patrick: slide guitar, mandolin, vocals Katherine Macleod: flute, whistles, melodica, vocals.
Support from The Mairs Family Band, who have just returned from a short tour in Tennesee, and have a new CD out, "Live!".
