Gruesome Cash death in Tennessee
A woman found stabbed to death and stuffed in a box in the town of Baxter, 100 miles east of Nashville, has been identified as the great niece of Johnny Cash.
Courtney Cash's body was found Wednesday in a box similar to a cedar chest but not cedar, approximately four feet long and two feet deep, near the front door.
Her boyfriend was injured but managed to escape the house and drive himself to a hospital.
Another man is in custody charged with first degree murder, and additional charges are pending.
The sheriff described the three as friends and said they had been out Tuesday night and got into an argument after returning to the home. The argument is believed to have been drug related.
The accused has a lengthy criminal history, with 20 entries into the Putnam County jail.
