July Prairie Star date

Saturday 5th July is the next date for the Prairie Star C&W Club in Weir Soc & Rec Club, Church Street, Alloa, This month, the club have country music from Cambridge based band 'Black Steel' featuring the steel guitar, and its their first visit to our club and to this neck of the woods.

 

Glasto Dolly 100 million sales

The most celebrated female in country music history, Dolly Parton, receives, yet, another accolade for RIAA gold, platinum, and multi-platinum career sales of more than 100 million albums worldwide.  While attending the historic Glastonbury Music Festival, Dolly took time to speak to journalists before hitting the Pyramid stage in front of a crowd exceeding 100,000 music loving fans.  During Dolly’s press event, BBC2 Radio’s Lauren Laverne introduced CTK Management CEO and Dolly Records President Danny Nozell and Glastonbury owner Michael Eavis who made the special plaque presentation which commemorated her sales of 100 million albums worldwide.

New book from Jean Shepard

Jean Shepard is one of Country music's real legends. A long time member, she introduced several Scots acts including Colorado, Ruby Rendall & Gerry Ford to the Opry stage, and toured here back in the 1980's.

Sand & Water video

Jacqui Sharkey, who grew up in Glasgow has a new video which will appear on the various Showcase TV shows in the coming weeks.  The song is her cover of Beth Neilsen Chapman's 'Sand And Water', one of the tracks from  her first and current album "A New Dawn".
The video was filmed at An Grianan Theatre, Letterkenny,Co. Donegal and at Magheraclogher, Bunbeg, Co. Donegal earler this month.

Lisa does Dolly

Glasgow born, Donegal based Lisa McHugh debuted her new single on Irish TV last night.

The song was written by Lisa's biggest influence Dolly Parton.
